DAY 1: HO CHI MINH CITY ARRIVAL

Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, picked up by our guide & driver for a transfer to your hotel.

Depends on your arrival time, enjoy a half day city tour in this bustle and hustle city.

Ho Chi Minh City, known as Saigon, is the country’s commercial center and, with over eight million inhabitants and four million motorbikes, a city that never sleeps.

Admire Saigon’s historic landmarks including the Notre Dame Cathedral (under construction, visit outside only) a red brick edifice with twin spires based on the original construction from Paris. Then head across the square to the Central Post Office, designed by the French architect, Gustave Eiffel. Continue your visit with the former Presidential Palace, the headquarters of the Saigon Government during the American war, revealing the history of Saigon during its turbulent recent past. Further, drive to visit the War Remnants Museum for a vivid insight of the American war through the local’s eyes (Please note that some of the photos are very graphic). Then sit down at a street coffee shop for a break to observe the daily life of the locals, and have a little personal chat with your guide over a cup of coffee. Your guide will give you some interesting tips such as how to cross the road without breaking a sweat or to say a few simple words in Vietnamese as well as offer an insight of the local’s daily lives.

DAY 2: MEKONG DELTA BY LOCAL BOAT

After breakfast at your hotel, picked up at the hotel’s lobby for a full day visit to Ben Tre in Mekong Delta.

Upon arrival at Hung Vương Pier take a boat ride on Ben Tre River, one of tributaries of Mekong River. Witnessing lively activities in the morning such as fishing, boats carrying coconut on the river. Stop at a traditional brickwork to see how locals make bricks. Continue to Cai Son Canal by winding through coconut jungles and visiting a coconut workshop. Know how workers peel the husks off by hands. Going further on waterways and stop at a local house to learn how they feed bees then enjoying a cup of honey tea. Walking along canal to a coconut candy workshop, tasting some sweets and seasonal fruits before watching traditional performances by local artists. Take a leisurely walk to a farmer’s house who weaves sedge mats.

Cycle on narrow rural paths or get on a “xe lôi” (tuktuk) through coconut grove, vegetable gardens (cucumber, bitter melon, etc). Lunch at a riverside restaurant. Getting back to Hùng Vương Pier by motorboat.

Return to Saigon in the afternoon.

DAY 3: CU CHI TUNNELS

Enjoy a 2-hour drive northwest of Saigon to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. The tunnel complex was initially started in 1948 to protect the Viet Cong guerrillas from the French air and ground sweeps. The tunnels also served as communication routes, storage facilities for food and weapon caches as well as hospitals and living quarters for guerrilla fighters throughout the American war. A visit to the underground villages will provide a better understanding of the tunnels’ history, the hardship of life in the tunnels and the Vietnamese resilience during combat. Return to Saigon.

Free until picked up for a private transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
